One of the amazing things about London is that everybody comes here--at least everybody engaged in international business, entertainment or politics. So it was no surprise today when we were talking down Charing Cross Road in Central London to encounter one of the world's A-list personalities, the actor Colin Firth. For those of you who can't quite place him, he is best known for his portrayal of Mr. D'Arcy in Pride and Predjudice and for his leading roles in Bridget Jones Diary and Four Weddings and a Funeral. "Laura, who was in the lead at the moment, was the first t spot him and make eye contact. She smiled, and he got that "I've-been-recognized-panicked look about him for just a second, but pursuit of autographs is not one of our purposes, so all went along, marvelling at who you might see if you keep your eyes open.
