Young Love

Britain is all agog about the 13-year-old boy who supposedly got a 15-year-old girl pregnant when he was 12. That's "supposedly" because since the baby was born, two other boys have come forward claiming to be the father (proving that the British really will form a line--or a queue as they call it here--for anything. )Now admittedly, 12 or 13 is definitely too young to become a parent, but how young is too young to have a boyfriend? Well, that's apparently something we are going to need to worry about a lot sooner than we had thought. Yesterday about halfway through breakfast Cecily picked up the foil wrap for Scott's teabag. When Scott told her to put it down and eat her breakfast, she refused. So he asked her why she needed it. She replied by pointing to the picture of the rather mature, bald man on the Earl Grey label and announced, "because that's my boyfriend!" Minutes later, she shared the same information with the amused waitress who came to clear the table. We fear our daughter may be developing at a very young age a taste for older, balding men--something we hope won't be deciphered from the tea leaves.
