Ladies On Lions
Our foray to church having gone a bit awry, we decided to make something of the afternoon with a trip to The National Portrait Gallery at Trafalgar Square. That was a good idea. Taking the bus wasn't such a good idea. The girls love the bus, mostly because they can sit on the top deck and see where we are going. Olivia said, "I got to ride in the front seat today. I've done everything I want to do here. We can go home now." The downside was that the bus took 2 1/2 hours to accomplish what we could have done on the subway in a half an hour. We missed the Portrait Gallery entirely, but we enjoyed playing on the massive bronze lions and in the fountains at Trafalgar Square, and we took in an amazing choral evensong at St. Martin in the Fields. We grabbed a bite to eat at a traditional English pub. Thus the day which started out somewhat shakily was salvaged.
