Mom's Perspective: Museum of London

Yesterday was a most excellent day. We took the girls to the Museum of London. Olivia had asked Scott "where did this place come from." We decided to find out. The girls each found something to like. For Olivia, it was the swords, the exhibit on the great fire of London (which confirmed her desire to avoid heavily populated areas of the world in the future) and the story of Queen Boudicca. For Meredith, it was the remains of the Roman wall visible through a large glass window. For Cecily, it was the collapsible metal chairs that were available for the video portions of the various exhibits. She kept demonstrating to me how they worked IN EACH EXHIBIT. Obviously, she was proud that she didn't forget how they worked from one room to the next! My favorite part was learning that some scholars now think that the Black Death might have been anthrax or Ebola instead of the plague. It seems that the symptoms of the Black Death as reported by eyewitnesses is somewhat different from what modern doctors report in cases of bubonic plague. I must look for a 2004 book on the subject that is mentioned by the exhibit. I don't remember the author, but the title is hard to forget -- it includes "The Greatest Serial Killer."
